WHITE CITY TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY
COUNCIL
May 6th, 2009 @ 7:00 PM
Eastmont Middle School 10100
S. 1300 E. Room #105.
MINUTES
- Meeting called to order by Troy Blundell,
Chair, there was a quorum.
- Welcome, Introductions and then Pledge of
Allegiance was led by Don Patocka.
- Kay Dickerson presented the April 1st, 2009
minutes for approval. Paulina Flint made a motion to approve the April 1st
Minutes, it was seconded and approved.
- Jeremy Christensen gave the Treasurer’s
report for April. A note was added to the report noting that Special Project
money was loaned to council until money was received from the County. Don
Patocka made a motion to approve the report. Motion was seconded and approved.
- Troy Blundell made a motion to put Brody
Waldrum on in place of Bev Uipi. Motion seconded and approved
- Brody Waldrum from the Sheriff’s Department
gave a report on Stats for White City. Discussion on the desire to have a
White City logo on the cars and it was suggested as a possible solution to
have a Southeast Community logo with the areas served also on the logo. It was
accepted as a good concept and he will send the idea up channels. A discussion
about the crossing on 9400 South at Poppy was really not well marked. Kids on
the north side are bussed to Edgemont. Crossing should be out of service since
it is not maintained by the cities or the County. The crossing is a Sandy City
responsibility since they have taken ownership of that part of 9400 South.
Jeremy Christensen made a motion to give a vote of confidence on the new logo
for the Sheriff’s car in the area. Motion seconded and passed. There is a link
on the Sheriff’s website to get update from Brody.
- Bev Uipi gave the Mayor’s report. Nicole
Dunn, Deputy Mayor, is working with the District Attorney on a new disclosure
form. National Public Works Week is May 18 &19 with a painting contest on
those days. The Domestic Fowl Ordinance passed the Steering Committee and is
at County Council now for comment. It should be on the Website this week and
to the Chair for approval. Expect approval by June. The Swine Flu is not
considered a Pandemic. East Wasatch Canyons Master Plan is going on now with
workshops on May 12, 13, & 14. For more information go to
www.wasatchcanyons.slco.org.
- Greg Schultz gave the report on Big Bear Park
parking and indicated that funding is available for additional parking in the
amount of $100,000. They are studying three different options. Parks and
Recreation would like to attend the June meeting to present concepts to the
council. Estimates are in the $200,000 range now. Scheduling of Bear Park is
in a real mess right now since it appears as though no one is in charge either
Sandy City or the County. The Park is way overbooked and no one knows what is
scheduled. There is no Neighbor to Neighbor Program scheduled for the White
City area this year.
- Para-Transit Routes—Paulina Flint presented
the information by Ron Farber to support the keeping of the Para-Transit
routes in the Southeast quadrant of the Salt Lake Valley. Paulina made a
motion to support the effort by Ron Farber to keep the Para Transit Routes in
the South East Quadrant of the Salt Lake Valley. Motion was seconded and
approved.
- White City Days. Council members to meet
after to discuss the details of what needs to be done for this effort. Money
from County not received yet due to forms for Volunteers not being signed.
Mayor said money would be released and should be to the councils soon.
- New Business-Forms for insurance were
E-mailed to chair and need to be filled out and signed for us to be insured.
Troy will follow thru on this item. Bear Park has not been reserved for White
City Days due to the unavailability of any days open. Looking at 15 Aug. 2009
and no days are available all are reserved by Families.
- Meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm.
