- Meeting called to order by Troy Blundell, Chair,
there was a quorum. Excused Don Patocka.
- Welcome, Introductions and then Pledge of Allegiance
was led by Greg Schulz. Visitors at the meeting were Max Burdick-SLCo. Council,
Andy Stephenson-Administrative Asst. and Colin Smith-SLCo. Mayor’s Office.
- Kay Dickerson presented the April 6th, 2011 minutes
for approval. Paulina Flint made a motion to approve the April 6th, 2011 Minutes.
Motion was seconded and approved.
- Jeremy Christensen gave the Treasurer’s report
for April. He indicated that we had received funding from County. Revolving
Funding not requested and the Township money was received but not on the report
$6700.00 Paulina Flint made a motion to ask for the Revolving Fund money and
the Neighbor to Neighbor event $500.00. Motion was seconded and approved. Paulina
Flint made a motion to move all Special Event Money $3600.00 to Township Days.
Motion seconded and approved. Paul Smith made a motion to approve the Treasurers
report. Motion seconded and approved.
- Sheriff’s Report. James Taylor of the UPD made
a report on the Police calls in the area for the months of March calls-168,
cases-71 and April calls-150, cases-88. A speed study was done on Serpentine
for 5 days with the following results-533 Cars, Max speed 34mph, average speed
18.9mph. Results were showing not many offenders. There is a Citizens’ Academy
coming up that will be on Wednesday evening for 8 weeks. Troy Blundell attended
the last event. If anyone wants to attend let James know. He also mentioned
that we need to be familiar with the Reverse 911 phone service.
- Salt Lake County Mayor’s Office and West Side
Community Council report by Greg Schulz. Mayor’s Office-Am Aser (SLCo. Mayor’s
Office) mentioned that there is a Park Bond to improve current parks which includes
New Parks, as well as, Bear Park and Dimple Dell Park. Mayor’s Open Door is
May 25 from 4 to 6pm. There is a Survey on weekly recycling on the Sanitation
Department’s Website we should take advantage of. The UPD fee meeting is in
June. He asked about our Municipal Priorities for this year. Paulina Flint made
a motion to use the same 5 as last year. Motion seconded and approved.
- Southeast Township Days-Paulina Flint indicated
that the next meeting is scheduled for 6 May at the White City Water Offices.
We have commitments from several vendors that should make this a great event.
Barbecue by Texas Smoke Barbecue a local vendor and they are bringing food from
about 10 other local vendors. Face Painting and Moose Canoe will supply the
music. We will need a number of volunteers on the 27 of August in the early
morning to setup and put out signage. If anyone is able to help please let Paulina
- New Business- Paulina Flint mentioned that the
Newsletter needs to be out by 1 June. Utah Neighborhoods had a new election.
They will only deal with Councils and not Committees. ACCT is having a special
meeting on the Spruce Beetle Epidemic in the area. Richard Snow made a motion
to send out the Newsletter. Seconded and approved. Paulina Flint mentioned that
the dentist Dr. Skanchy on 1300 East and Sego Lily has applied for approval
of a digital sign facing 1300 East and is having trouble getting approval. He
would like our help in getting approval with SL County Planning and Development
on zoning issues with this sign. There are similar signs along 700 east. Jeremy
Christensen mentioned Canyons School District is having meeting on redistricting
in the near term and we need to follow the meetings.
