  • Planning and Zoning.-Dental Office Signage issue-Dr. Tony Skanchy on 1300 East would like to change out his office sign to incorporate newer technology to have electric messaging and put up new wrought iron fencing. Current zoning does not allow this in our area. This could be done by changing current zoning from RM to C2 and apply for Conditional Use approval to put in the new sign. This change is for a small zone which contains the only Business in the White City area and several homes. Paulina Flint made a motion to approve the application to change the zoning to C2. Motion seconded and approved. Paulina made a second motion to approve the conditional use permit to allow installation of the sign. Motion seconded and approved. Copies of details of this change are included in the minutes.
  • Sheriff’s Report. James Taylor of the UPD made a report. The report for June was 197 Calls, 80 Cases, 4 Assaults and 8 Domestic calls. The full report is attached. Fireworks- new legal fireworks are now available which make more noise. Due to the change in the law response from officers will be only on safety issues and hazards. Noise will be as available.
  • Salt Lake County Mayor’s Office and West Side Community Council report by Greg Schulz. Mayor’s Office. 13 July Chair breakfast 8-9 am with Mayor. UPD’s meetings are done. Status Quo is ok with most and there will be no raises for elected people. Sales Tax should be ok so far and they are still working on consolidated service issues and will access further.
  • Southeast Township Days 27 August-Paulina Flint –Meeting on 15th Friday at the Water office at 5 pm. Things are moving along to get things organized. All contracts for Fun Services are there and they will be having lights in the area for longer activities. Flyers for the car show are available to be passed out. We need permission for signs to be put up by the 1st week in August. On the 26th of August need help to put out signs for event.
  • New Business-Richard Allen a resident in the area is concerned about the property close to the 1300 East entry into White City along Sego Lily. It is a rental property at 1280 E Sego Lily on the corner. It is not being kept up and is becoming an eyesore. Don Patocka made a motion to support and effort to get the property cleaned up. Seconded and approved. Russell Ballard from the Pizza Hut on 1300 East would like to sponsor several service projects in the area to clean up the area by clearing weeds and picking up trash in general. On 23 July, 2011 clean up along Carnation Drive above the old canal. On Sat. July 30th work on the White Tower area. Maybe Aug. 6th and Oct 15th Neighbor to Neighbor Project. We indicated we would assist any way we could to help these go forward. Paulina Flint indicated that on 14 July there will be a discussion with the Planning and Zoning Department. Also information for the newsletter needs to be in by next week to get out on time.
