- Treasurer’s Report, Jeremy Christensen gave the report for December. No
changes since last month, but a check to the IRS for $850.00. Motion by Don
Patocka to approve the Treasurer’s report. Seconded and approved.
- Unified Police Report. Officer Green of the UPD made a report. The
report for December was 150 calls and 65 cases, which is up from other
months. Calls were mostly Thefts and domestic violence.
- Planning and Zoning –A Planner, Todd Draper from Salt Lake County gave a
discussion on electrical facilities with a draft of a general plan as how to
handle the Electrical Infrastructure systems to meet future growth in the
Salt Lake County. There was a discussion on Best Practices and how this
might be handled for electrical and other capital facilities. This was a
broad based Regional Plan for the County and it is planned to move into the
Townships later as the plan broadens. There needs to be a cooperative effort
with the Electrical Power companies in the area and with the communities. A
concern was expressed about going through existing communities and that
consideration needs to be given to burial of large capacity lines. Paulina
Flint made a motion to require Power lines in existing built out residential
areas when upgraded to be placed under ground. Motion seconded and approved.
Paulina Flint will prepare a draft letter from the council to Todd Draper
- ACCT report-Greg Schultz- ACCT elections coming up on January 8th. ACCT
training is scheduled for January 21st and all Council members need to
attend to help maintain our status in the County. The primary discussion
will be on Districts for the County and the UPD structure. There is to be a
Relay for Life race this year sponsored by Magna Community to raise money
for Cancer Research and we are all encouraged to participate.
- New Business-Item that was discussed about Neighborhood cleanup last
month about raised joints in sidewalks. Patrick Leary, SL County Director of
Public Works, mentioned that in order to be able to have trip hazards
repaired we need to report them on an individual basis. There is still the
question as to why all the other joints were marked. He and Kay Dickerson
will work on seeing if the other joints can be repaired. He was asked to
look into a concern about the street light that was removed at Primrose and
10600 S and see if it could be replaced. There was also a change in the
water drainage from the intersection now moving from 10600 S to Primrose.
The intersection of the roads at 9400 S and the Ski Connect area is now
missing a lot of sidewalk. It is a combined project between SL County,
Sandy, and UDOT which needs to be completed. The intersection at Poppy Lane
and 10600 S needs a 90 degree mirror to help traffic at the intersection.
Could he find what the cost of the mirror would be? The intersection at
Carnation and Buddlea needs to be lowered to reduce the dragging vehicles’.
He will check these items out and report back. Motion by Jeremy Christensen
to set aside the last Saturday in August as the Southeast Township Days.
Seconded and approved.
- WCTCC Elections of Executive Board- No one stepped forward to run for
any of the Board. Don Patocka made a motion to retain the current Executive
Board as now constituted. Motion seconded and approved.
- Meeting was adjourned at 8:25pm.
