White City Township Community Council
February 1st, 2012 @ 7:00 PM
Eastmont Middle School 10100 S 1300 E Room #105
- Meeting called to order by Troy Blundell, Chair, there was a quorum.
- Welcome, Introductions and then Pledge of Allegiance was led by Officer
- Kay Dickerson presented the January 4th, 2012 minutes for approval. Don
Patocka made a motion to approve the January 4th, 2012 Minutes. Motion was
seconded and approved.
- Treasurer’s Report, Jeremy Christensen was not available since he was
bringing a new daughter home from the hospital. No changes since last month.
- Unified Police Report. Officer Green of the UPD made a report. The
report for January was not available yet. There were some daytime
burglaries. They have heard of some persons possibly checking out the areas
and trying to get inside of homes to “look around”. This is most likely an
attempt to figure out who lives there and get a look inside the home to
possibly return later to burglarize. So we need to keep an eye out on our
neighborhood and let them know if something just does not seem right so they
can check it out. He e-mailed me the maps later and they show 121 calls, 39
cases and 40 offenses. They were mostly public order.
- New Business-Mayor’s Office Beth Graham, Wasatch Front Meeting will be
held at the end of the month. Customer Satisfaction forms are out and posted
on the website SLCo.org. We need to fill them out. Paulina Flint mentioned
that the training meeting was very good and was geared toward Districts.
Zion’s Bank has been awarded a study to see about the feasibility of
Districts in the County. Deputy Mayor Nicole Dunn put together a
presentation for the Public Works Dept. The book that was given out is
geared to Districts. Council is in compliance with Open Meetings Law. Study
is to be done within 90 Days. Four cities are planning to protest study. No
more meetings of the committee until the study is completed. It is rumored
that the Legislature may propose changes to the number of signatures
required to incorporate into cities. ACCT Mtg. Paulina Flint, Patrick Leary
will discuss street lighting in the County. Todd Draper may also be in
attendance. Lowell Wallace mentioned that Lt. Simmons of the Utah National
Guard would like a booth at the next Township Days. There was a short
presentation by Denise Nielson who lives in the area about Emergency
Preparedness for the South side of the Dimple Dell Park area. There is a
Great Shake Out on April 17 and we as a community need to be prepared and
have a plan for our area. She would like to maybe have the council help buy
some Walkie Talkies to help in the plan. Since we are a not-for-profit
council we may not be able to put up cash for the items, but we will see if
we can help by getting out flyers. Greg Schulz, Legislature is working
slowly right now with more transparency. The cleanup for White City is
tentative for July 13-17, 2012.
- Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 pm.
