White City Township Community Council

- Meeting called to order by Troy Blundell, Chair, there was a quorum.
Welcomed visitor, Erin Litvac of SL County Community Services, to meeting.
Pledge was lead by Paul Smith.
- Report form Community Services. Erin Litvac gave a report about the New
Park Bond Proposal that is for the upkeep and development of Parks. The cost
would be $123 Million proposed for 2012 or about $14 per home. It would be
to eliminate the backlog of Deferred Capital Maintenance ($26M) and have
funds for Improvements
- Salt Lake County Mayorís Office-Beth Graham asked us for our Municipal
Priorities list in the near term. Would like it in a priority Matrix format.
- UPD Report. Brooks Green of the UPD made a report on the police calls in
the area for the month of May calls-153, cases-48, offenses-48. Offenses are
down but generally pick up in the next couple of months as the weather warms
up. Most calls were domestic violence.
- Approval of May 2nd Minutes-May 2nd Minutes were presented by Kay
Dickerson and Paulina Flint made a motion to approve the minutes. Seconded
- Treasurerís report for May. Jeremy Christensen gave the report for May
and there was $5197.43 in account with a deposit of $8000.00 on Saturday
which will result in $13,197.43 in the account. Don Patocka made a motion to
approve the Treasurerís report. Motion seconded and approved.
- Southeast Township Days-Paulina Flint mentioned that we have the
approval of the Church next to the Park for additional parking. We
appreciated the donation by Rio Tinto for $1000.00. Contracts are being
worked and are moving well. She mentioned that the Newsletter needs to be
generated before the next meeting..
- New Business- Paulina Flint made a motion for a straw poll on support of
the Park Bond. All were in favor. Discussed Election Committee and it was
decided that the following need to form the committee- Paul Smith, Don
Patocka, Lenelle Sanchez and Richard Snow. The following peopleís terms are
up this year: Lanelle Sanchez (Dist. 2), Open Position (Dist. 4), Paul Smith
(Dist. 6), and Don Patocka (At Large C). The discussion turned to the
meeting date in July which is on July 4th. Paulina Flint made a motion to
cancel the meeting in July. Seconded and approved. Jeremy Christensen made a
motion to create and publish the Newsletter for this year. Seconded and
approved. Paulina to create and publish Newsletter. Discussed Municipal
Priorities 1. Grinding Carnation down and resurfacing. 2. Grinding raised
Joints in sidewalks on Carnation and Larkspur. Paulina Flint made a motion
to accept Municipal Priorities. Seconded and approved. Unified Police is in
dire straits for funding and it appears as though a Property Tax Increase is
coming to cover the Protective Services, Jail and other services. Norm
Fitzgerald in Magna passed away this last week and it was felt that we as a
Council need to send a card to his family. Troy will send a card. Anyone
attending any car shows in the near future should take some flyers from our
Township Days and distribute them at the shows.
