White City Township Community Council

- Meeting called to order by Troy Blundell, Chair, there was a quorum.
Welcomed visitors attending meeting Mayor Peter Corroon, Don & Janice Dumas,
Linda Price, Ron Faerber, Charlotte Halverson, Detective DeJarnett(Midvale
Precinct) and Cody Cutler. Pledge was lead by Deputy Brooks Green.
- Mayor Corroon gave a report on the election yesterday and comments that
will be presented at SLC Council meeting tomorrow. Ben McAdams was elected
as the new Mayor and the Council members elected were Sam Granato, Jim
Bradley, and Michael Jensen. Parks and Recreation Bond passed which will
mean new parks will be considered for Draper, Bluffdale, Kearns, and Magna.
Funds needed to finish Parley’s Trail and Jordan River Trails. NEPA process
has now been started. They have finished the Mountain Trail Study and is now
available on the website. The budget will be presented tomorrow with no
increase in property taxes and the Sales Tax is looking good. The Mayor will
be asking for a tax increase to cover deferred maintenance items and
retirement benefits about 17.5% or $60.00/Year on the average home. He felt
this was necessary since there have been delays in much of the required
maintenance and funding of the retirement programs. He was saying farewell
to 8 wonderful years and has enjoyed the service. He wanted to thank
everyone for their service as well. He said he was still looking for a job.
- Mayor’s Report-Beth Graham Our priorities list will be available
tomorrow with the items we requested in order of there need. She asked us
again to list how many hours we spend volunteering for the County. We
indicated that we do not keep track of the hours since we do not serve as
volunteers for the County but are elected officials for the White City
Township Community Council.
- Unified Police Report-Officer Green reported that there were 167 Calls,
50 Cases, and 56 Offences. With winter time coming they will start to
enforce the no parking over night in the street so that the snow removal can
take place. They will start with warnings but will then give tickets if
- Approval of October 3rd, 2012 Minutes. Richard Snow made a motion to
approve the minutes as presented. Motion seconded and approved.
- Treasurers’ Report. Jeremy Christensen gave the Treasurers report which
indicated that we had $1500.00 in our account. Since no statements were
available this was the extent of the report.
- Canvas Report- Don Patocka gave the results of the election that was
held for the WCTCC held on 6 November, 2012. The results of the report are
as follows: District 2. Lenelle Sanchez, Dist. 3 Cody Cutler, Dist. 4 Linda
Price, Dist. 6 Christy Seiger-Webster, At Large Darren Webster. All
Candidates ran unopposed, therefore are the winners. A copy of the Election
Report is attached to the minutes. Jeremy Christensen made a motion to
accept the report as presented. Seconded and approved. Paul Smith made a
motion to now destroy the ballots. Motion seconded and approved.
- New Business- Dave Scharffs introduced the new Detective from the
Midvale Precinct (Det. “DJ” DeJarnatt) which is where our first responders
are from for police protection now they have joined the Unified Police Unit.
Don Patocka made a motion on “Mist of Inclusion” to table the discussion
until next month. Seconded and approved. Sheryl Ivey asked for info on
Emergency Preparation which we will discuss next month. We requested the
newly elected officers to supply me with their addresses, phone numbers, and
e-mail addresses if they would like to receive copies of the minutes before
the meetings. My information is on the White City Website.
